Henry's Blueskin® VPTech™ Named Finalist in Two Best of IBS™ Awards Categories at International Builders' Show 2025

February 25, 2025

Blueskin VPTech, launched in 2024 by Henry, a Carlisle Company, has been named a finalist in two prestigious Best of IBS™ Awards categories at the National Association of Home Builders 2025 International Builders' Show® (IBS), taking place February 25-27 in Las Vegas. The product is being recognized for Most Innovative Building Material, which celebrates breakthroughs that redefine construction standards, and Best Energy Efficient Product, highlighting solutions that significantly reduce energy consumption while integrating outstanding performance with environmentally responsible design. Both awards acknowledge products that improve efficiency, sustainability and provide significant value to the residential construction process.

The nominations reflect Carlisle's focus on product innovation, anchored by its recent commitment to make a $45 million-plus investment in expanding its Research & Innovation Center in Carlisle, PA where the company plans to add over 50,000 sq. ft. of additional lab space, work area and equipment stations to accelerate new product development. Consistent with Carlisle’s Vision 2030, the company plans to increase its R&D investment to 3% of sales, aiming to derive 25% of annual revenue from new products.

Innovation Investment in Action

Blueskin VPTech was created for the residential construction market and delivers energy efficiency and labor savings through an integrated building envelope solution with three components: a weather-resistive barrier (WRB), continuous insulation (CI), and seam sealing in a single, integrated panel. This first-of-its-kind innovation allows builders to achieve insulation and weatherization in a single trip around the house.

Independent blower door testing confirms a 73% reduction in air changes per hour, down to 1.5 ACH50, when installed in conjunction with an unvented attic with open cell spray foam. During trials with independent building contractors, Blueskin VPTech installed 30% faster compared to sheathing, continuous insulation, and WRB installed as separate components.

Blueskin VPTech joins other products such as Henry ULTRATouch Recycled Denim Insulation in Carlisle's expanding innovation portfolio. Crafted from 80% recycled denim, this game-changing alternative to fiberglass insulation features a formulation of natural, non-irritating fibers that eliminate the need for specialized tools, while also lowering environmental impact and streamlining installation time without compromising performance.

Chris Koch, Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer of Carlisle Companies added: "Solutions like Henry Blueskin VPTech and ULTRATouch denim insulation demonstrate our Vision 2030 commitment to innovation investment in the areas of energy efficiency, labor-saving solutions, and integrated systems. Furthermore, we’re backing our commitment to innovation by more than tripling our historical R&D investment and delivering new solutions through a portfolio of initiatives that include launching new value-added products, expanding our Research and Innovation campus, and partnering with innovators around the globe through our innovation accelerator program.”
